HOT: Updatenamento 0.95 for Home Assistant

3 minutes of reading

The development team of Home Assistant has released a new updatenamento for the known personale HUB, which leads to the version 0.95.x.

From this version Home Assistant provides direct support to AdGuard Home. It is a component which allows you to control and manage the ADGUARD service: it consists in introducing into the profirst local network a custom DNS that allows you to "filter" requests from internal systems to the outside, thus enabling a punctual Parental-control.

This component can be installed on Home Assistant as a plugin HASSIO or via the "Configuration" menu> "Integrations".

A demo is available to follow:

More info on the component page.

Another interesting novelty introduced by this version is the support for the integration of Life360, a localization service via smartphone for family use. How easy it is to guess, this integration allows the definition of type entities "Device Tracker“, Very useful in the field Home Assistant for the definition of automations based on the presence / absence of tenants.

Nb being a component originally born as custom component, those who have already implemented it take a look at these notes.

Some use Home Assistant not so much like personal HUBsoftware for domestic use but also for self-propelled vehicles (campers and others). For this reason the service has been defined starting from this new version "homeassistant.set_location", Which allows you to dynamically update - obviously without restarting - the geographical position of the installation of theHUB.

The 0.95 brings with it an improvement of thecloud integration of Alexa with Home Assistant.
From this version it is possible to manage the list of entities exposed to Alexa directly from the web interface, precisely as already done for Google Assistant previous versions.

Finally, the by icons are available for use Material Icons in 3.7.95 version: well 100 new icons to be implemented on our web interface.

Radical changes

In the last two versions some changes, if not corrected in the configuration, caused only warnings: from this version they cause blocked errors. In case of failure to restart Home Assistant, do not panic: just look at the logs and understand what has changed, even compared to the 0.94 and .093 versions. Repost from the 0.94 version: Home Assistant, at the first release following the 1 August 2019 (so not this version), will no longer be executed in the presence of the 3.5 version of Python: the minimum requirement will be the 3.6. This important change It will NOT affect users HASSIO o HASSIO on Docker, but only on users who have installed Home Assistant How applicativo.

To check the version installed on the proprio Raspberry Pi/ Raspbian, the command is:

python3 --version

If the version was inadequate (everything that is inferior to 3.6 is KO), Python will be updated as soon as possible, certainly before theupdate Home Assistant following the 1 August pv.
